Speaking to Ceylon FT Laugfs Holdings Chairman, W.K.H. Wegapitiya said that with the boom in the tourism industry, there was much scope for domestic aviation to grow in the future.
“With fewer restrictions in the aviation industry and tourism industry picking up; this is the best time to enter the industry. Right now we are conducting a feasibility study and will soon consider the rest of the procedures,” he added.
Travelling time has been a major concern for the tourists, especially when reaching tourist destinations like Pasikudah. Hence, these internal airlines would be beneficial to all hoteliers in attracting high-end tourists to their respective hotels, Wegapitiya highlighted.
The company is confident of buying its own aircrafts and would initially commence operations with daily scheduled flights to tourist destinations within the island.
Commenting on the current doing business and investment conducive environment, Wegapitiya said that the government had done its best by restoring peace in the country. Sri Lanka today has become the investment hotspot in this part of the world, and as locals, it is our turn to contribute towards upholding the momentum of the country’s economic growth.
