LAUGFS Lanka to embark on new Salt Facto

Under the development plan of the Hambantota district, a new salt factory will be set up by the local entity- LAUGFS Salt and Chemicals (Pvt. Limited) in Chitragala- Ambalantota. Minister of Irrigation and Water Management and Ports and Aviation, Chamal Rajapaksa will lay the foundation stones for the construction of salt factory and the new office complex on October 4 at 10 am. The company will commence its operational activities by the year 2011 and it is expected to cater 5% of the total annual demand for salt in the country, the Assistant General Manager, A.M.N. Kasun Abeysinghe said.
