LAUGFS cautions Government over gas

LAUGFS Gas Company Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya yesterday asked the government to be cautious about entering the local LP gas market by buying the contolling shares in the Shell Gas Company because past experiences have shown that it was likely the government might incur major losses. “When one looks back at the government’s record it is not unusual to find it mismanaging the businesses it handles and thus being burdened with huge losses,” Mr. Wegapitiya said.
