CPC might cut off LAUGFS

General Secretary of the UPFA, Petroleum Resources Minister Susil Premjayantha said the CPC was reviewing the agreement signed with the LAUGFS Gas and efforts would be taken to abrogate it on the advice of the Supreme Court and produce and distribute domestic gas independently by the CPC to give relief to consumers. Speaking to media personnel at the Mahaweli Center yesterday, Minister Premjayantha said the private gas company has gone to the Supreme Court demanding a market monopoly for the domestic gas produced by the CPC as a by product of its refineries. “The CPC produces between 15% – 20% of domestic gas requirement of the country and sells the entire production to LAUGFS Gas on an agreement.
